2025-2026 Winter Sports Registration
Dear Cyclone Parents/Guardians & Student-Athletes,
Welcome to the 2025-2026 Winter High School Athletic Season!
This letter outlines important information regarding athletic participation for the upcoming winter season:
Athletic Clearance Procedures - Final Forms:
The high school winter registration window opens on October 17th 2025. Go to: http://rockvillecentre-ny.finalforms.com/ to sign your child up for the winter 2025-2026 season that begins on November 17th 2025.
Please use the parent registration guide to help you through the registration process.
**Athletes MUST be registered and medically cleared by our district medical official to be eligible to participate in any part of a tryout or practice
***All parents/guardians and athletes must electronically sign the Concussion Acknowledgement and Student-Athlete Contract in Final Forms. This signature confirms their understanding of concussion signs and symptoms, as well as the expectations for a South Side student-athlete. Once a parent/guardian signs these documents, the athlete will receive an email with instructions on how to provide their electronic signature. Athlete clearance is contingent upon their electronic signature.
Physicals:
For those student-athletes in need of a physical examination. Our district doctor will be at South Side High School on one of the following date/time:
**All medical forms can be downloaded directly from your personal Final Forms account. All documents must be completed, printed, and submitted prior to receiving a physical by our school physician.
Baseline Concussion (IMPACT) Testing:If your child is trying out for a winter contact sport (basketball, cheerleading, diving, gymnastics, wrestling) and did not have IMPACT testing during the 2024-2025 school year. Please have him/her report on one of the following dates/times:
**This computer-based test will take approximately 20-30 minutes. If the test is considered invalid because the athlete was rushing and/or not taking the test seriously, he/she will be notified and will need to retake this test on a different day before receiving clearance for their sport. No cell phones will be permitted during the IMPACT testing.
South Side Academic Expectations
Being a South Side Cyclone student-athlete is a privilege that comes with high expectations on and off the field. Competition is fierce, but academics should always be your top priority. Southside has a long history of student-athletes achieving success in the classroom, and we expect you to continue that tradition.
South Side Athletics Attendance Policy
At South Side High School we strongly believe in the value of sports and extracurricular activities in the overall development of our students. Participation in athletics not only fosters physical fitness and skill development but also instills important life skills such as discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. One crucial aspect of being a Cyclone student-athlete is the commitment to attending ALL practices, games, and team events. Regular attendance is vital for the individual growth of each athlete and the success of the team as a whole. It builds a strong work ethic, promotes accountability, and teaches the importance of honoring commitments. It also demonstrates respect for teammates, coaches, and the value of teamwork.
Please note, absences at practice and/or games during the winter season may result in suspension of game play or expulsion from the team if repeated.
South Side Athletics Tryout Procedures
Every student who tries out for an athletic team is guaranteed a three session minimum tryout opportunity. These sessions are to be 1.5-2 hours in length. Failure to attend any of these days on the part of the prospective student-athlete is acceptable grounds for that student to be denied the opportunity to participate. NOTE: Depending upon the needs of the program/coach, the required tryout period may be longer than three days, but three days is the minimum standard. Every prospective student-athlete has a right to a three session tryout period. During the tryout period, each coach will provide an explanation of his/her expectations. It is the duty of the student to demonstrate to the coach that they can fulfill these expectations. If a student is not selected for a team, he/she may speak with the coach personally for an explanation. Students who are not selected are encouraged to explore other South Side athletics opportunities in subsequent seasons and in future years.
